PENNSYLVANIA PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER: Celia's Very Own Easter Photo Shoot

When we were working on coordinating Easter, we learned that Paige's mom wanted to bring her to get some Easter pictures taken. So, rather than sending her off to a studio, we took a little time on Saturday to do a special photo shoot especially for Paige in her Easter dress. Well, all this seemed like a fine idea to Celia, who then got dressed all in white for a photo shoot of her very own the next day.

This was the first time that it wasn't all about candid shooting of Celia. She followed direction and delivered way beyond my expectations. Pretty good for a kid just turning three!

Celia is fierce! Have a look...

See what I mean?

PENNSYLVANIA PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER: Paige's Easter Dress

We don't see Paige dressed to the nines very often, so when we do... get out the camera and start clicking! Her Easter dress afforded us such an opportunity and Diana and I grabbed our gear AND Paige and made our way around the yard getting shots.

It really wasn't very long ago that putting Paige in front of a camera was like pulling each of her teeth out individually. Okay, okay... maybe not THAT bad, but the result was either a patronizing grin or an annoyed expression no matter what the situation.

Ahhhh... you've come a long way, baby!

She even likes to suggest possible scenarios... hence the shots in front of the tarp, which in all honesty, gave her skin a nice glow.

Way to go, Paige! I love that when the Nikon comes out, you are all about it!

And seriously... could she be any cuter?

PENNSYLVANIA FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER: Easter at Shadow Glen Farm

I love Easter, but I also love when it's all said and done and I can crumble into a heap on the floor. Well, maybe not the floor... and... for God's sake, why do I feel so guilty saying that? Does it make me a terrible person? Or is it understandable after you've hosted 13 guests for the weekend? Oh yeah, once I close the door behind my last wonderful, lovely family member, I'm lookin' to getting my house straightened up and existing on leftovers for a week while I pore over all the pictures and pick out my favorites, which I'm about to start sharing with you.

There are a multitude of amazing photographs from this gorgeous spring-weather weekend, including an exclusive photo shoot with Paige and one with Celia each in their Easter finery, and those will follow in the next couple of posts.

Our weekend started out a little rocky. Melanie, Steve, and Celia had to take a little side trip for business on their way here on Friday, but the 'side trip' ended up being a colossal, 'I-feel-like-I-traveled-cross-country-in-a-day' kinda trip. All told, a 4 hour trip ended up taking 11 hours and the person that handled it best was Celia. Even after she took a header in a parking lot after dinner and scraped up her face, she remained quite the trooper. They rolled in at around 11:30 that night and after a good night's sleep, we started our morning by celebrating Celia's upcoming birthday with an impromptu birthday party and I'll tell you what... Paige and Celia were not complaining about feasting on cupcakes for breakfast dessert. Is there such a thing? It would seem like, yes... there most definitely is!

Of course, presents are always a big hit and Celia was giving it up for matching ballet outfits from The American Girl Doll Store that Ken and I got for her and her doll, Juliet. Sam, Martin, and Paige got her an adorable outfit, which she promptly placed strategically throughout the living room.

It's a thing with her. Don't ask.

I love this picture of her and her doll with my mom looking on in the background. Hi, Mom!

My dad read Celia a special card from himself and my mom...

... and then she proceeded to unveil REAL baking utensils for her play kitchen at home.

Praise all that is good in this world, our blustery weather magically turned into a beautiful spring weekend and we hauled the 'activity table' outside and let the kids loose on a basket full of 3 dozen hard boiled eggs.

As we sat down to the first course of Easter dinner, which we have to start by 2:00 in the afternoon lest we run out of time to eat way too much food before bedtime (a very odd Easter tradition which I am already rethinking for next year), the Easter bunny snuck into the backyard to hide the colored eggs and between courses, we converged upon the egg hunting grounds with baskets in tow. (What's with the apron, Sam?)

The rule was, blue eggs are for Celia to find and everything else is fair game for Paige and Jon.

Of course. Of course.

Paige is quite the good sport.

That doesn't look blue to me.

Jon also, was quite the sport. I know of at least one time when he found an egg and Celia was right behind him sweetly saying, "You can put that in MY basket, Jon."

And he did.

You're awesome, Jon.

Diana had set up her tripod and some chairs in the back for a family picture, so we headed there after all the eggs had been found.

We took a series of pictures with a timer and it was truly entertaining to watch Diana run back and forth between the camera and her spot behind Jon, yet somehow appear totally relaxed. I think we're all smiling because it was so much fun to watch.

There's Ken and I right smack in the middle like one king and queen with our boy, Sebastian (aka Marley). Once we finished with that, Jon was thinking it was time for the egg cracking contest.

... and it was game on!

Eventually, Celia realized that she could have an egg cracking contest all by herself.

But the thought of eating the egg became more appealing pretty quickly.

... and Ken was happy to hang out with his dog and take it all in.

Sam and Martin had to leave early, but after dinner, we were back outside playing and taking pictures.

Celia and Jon definitely had a little energy to expel...

It was a fun-filled day and a little down time watching The Princess and The Frog with Pop was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Stay tuned for Paige and Celia's Easter dress photo shoots (much shorter!) coming in a few days.
